Summer Maintenance Tip
Is your Air Conditioner not working properly
Before you call a repairmen here are a few steps that might fix the problem.
1. Locate
the filter for the unit (usually near
the main indoor unit)
If the
filter is dirty or clogged take a
measurement go to the local hardware
store and replace. This will greatly
increase air flow thus allowing more
cool air to flow throughout your home.
2. Check that your cooling coils at the inside unit are clean. They can become dirty thus cutting your air flow down. They can usually be cleaned by vacuuming them with a brush attachment. Vacuum lightly as they are fragile.
3. Check that your large refrigerant line is insulated. (This line is the size of a broom handle, the other smaller line the size of a pencil does not need to be insulated) If the large line is not insulated or poorly insulated you will loose efficiency thus loosing cooling capability.
Line insulation can also be purchased at your local hardware store.
If all of these tips are exhausted and you still have trouble it may be time to call a repairman.
